Tips for Sundancing

Tips for Sundancing

With the first blanket of snow, Park City local’s gears change fast, from single-track and golfing to snow-dancing and “Sundancing”. It is never too early to start thinking about “Sundancing”. If you are new to town or have never experienced Sundance as a local, then read on and learn from the pros. The sooner you buy your tickets for Sundance the more money you save for après-ski on Main Street plus you score better seats, movies and parties, which equal an unbeatable Sundance experience. Sundance will take-over the town from January 16-26 and registering online before Thanksgiving is necessary to having an unforgettable experience.

How do I buy tickets?

Utah locals can pre-register for individual tickets from November 5-December 16 on the website. On Dec 19 an email will be sent with a purchase timeslot.  Return to the site on your assigned date and time to purchase available tickets (between Jan 7-10). This page on the Sundance website is where you will be able to register starting November 5th:

If I am a local shouldn’t I get free tickets?

Yes! Townie Tuesdays and Best of Fest are what Sundance offers free to locals. Tickets for these complimentary screenings will be given out at the Park City Main Box Office on Saturday, January 11, 2014 from 10:00 am through 6:00 pm. Plan to get in line early as last year these tickets went quickly (were all gone by noon and people lined up starting at 8:00 am).

“Sundance Park City Local” definition: You MUST have a Utah Driver’s License or Utah State ID if you are purchasing tickets as a “local”. You will not be able to pick up tickets or get a refund if you purchase tickets as a local but do not have a Valid Utah ID to show when picking up your tickets.

How do I get tickets if I didn’t pre-register? Am I out of luck?

If you didn’t pre-register for a time slot, tickets are also available for purchase each day at any of the main box offices during the festival without any prior registration up until two hours before screening time. Tickets are also available online up until 36 hours before show time and can be picked up at any of the main boxes. Tickets this year are $20 each.
