ONE WASATCH – THE FUTURE OF THE “GREATEST SNOW ON EARTH” IN UTAH
Imagine being able to buy one single lift ticket and being able to ski or ride 7 resorts in Utah. One Wasatch is a new ski-link concept that was presented last month by Ski Utah, the trade company that represents Utah’s 14 ski resorts. One Wasatch would enable Utah locals and visitors to ski or ride at Deer Valley, Park City Mountain Resort, Canyons, Brighton, Solitude, Snowbird and Alta. It would put Utah on a whole new level being able to ski or ride 18,000 skiable acres, 100 lifts and 700 runs with one lift ticket.
The ski-link would put Utah in more direct competition with Colorado and would attract skiers and riders from all over the world. Micheal Berry, president of the Nation Ski Areas Associate said in a statement of support for the project that, “One Wasatch would catapult Utah into the category of a true international destination. It will be one of those situations where the sum of the whole is far greater than the parts…a game changer.”
The seven resorts that are involved all believe that One Wasatch would be a positive change to the ski industry in Utah and are all on board with the concept. With a few steps it would be feasible if approved, the changes that need to be made include:
- Connecting the Little and Big Cottonwood canyons
- Connecting Big Cottonwood Canyon to Park City
- Connecting Park City to Canyons Resort
- And; dropping the rope between Deer Valley and Park City
