BILL WHITE STRIKES AGAIN – BILL WHITE FARMS
So, you may have noticed a bit of construction going on across from the entrance to Ranch Place on Highway 224, about a mile off I-80 on the way into town. Another development project, you think? No. Bill White, famous for his local branch of restaurants, is restoring the previously historic 1938 Hixon Farm.
If you have ever dined at one of Bill White’s restaurants, you know that many of the delicacies on the menu are farm-to-table. Bill White’s mission to enhance the communities desire to eat, grow and enjoy locally grown food starts at Bill White Farms. The Hixon Farm is transforming beautifully into a gathering place for our community.
According to their website, “Bill White Farms plan to expand the agricultural use of the arm to reflect the trend to locally grown food. The new facility will also be used for cooking classes, food harvesting and a gathering place where people of all ages can experience traditional organic culture.”
The restoration of the old barn on 224 is a great addition to the area. We have already seen lovely flowers, goats, bees, chickens and ducks on the pond. We are excited for the grand opening of Bill White Farms and anxious to see what else they have in-store for the community.
